Last week I was studying for an Anatomy quiz and drew a picture (corny I know) just to help learn the labeling because that is always the harder part for me. I finished it and my mother was going on about how good it is. What do you think?

Vancouver 2010

My school is very missions oriented and we are taking a team to Vancouver to serve with a ministry called More Than Gold at the Olympics. At first I could not go because I did not have permission from my dad, but I really thought that I would go. Finally they announced yesterday that there would be an extension on the application and I knew I had to ask. So I contacted my dad and he said it was okay, only now I must raise the majority of the money. Any ideas for fundraising?

Sick!?!?! cough

I got sick on Sunday no idea what, but sick. Tonight I’m at choir sitting in my spot, second row on the end, and we are sining Let’s Have a Christmas Celebration and at one of those oh so fabulous key changes my voice cracked, it cracked like a teenage boy in puberty. So annoying. My sister called me 4 times during choir on the last one she left me a voice mail saying I should not ignore her calls, I was not ignoring her, but merely not answering her. However my other rather evil sister (love you, did I mention how much I like that shirt?) attempted to get her back by saying she found my phone but not me. Unfortunately she did not buy it. Well I must finish my Dear Doug. Explaining the concept of the trinity.

Christmas time

As the holiday season quickly approaches I have decided to start making plans for Christmas gifts. As money is tight nowadays I doubt anyone will mind some homemade gifts. Christmas gifts will vary between shiny red white and green and normal red white and green. I will post pictures as I finish gifts. I have ten to make so I better start crackin’.

Canada 07/08/09 – 07/29/09

Day #1

The team got together at the airport and checked in and discovered that our plane was delayed just enough to miss our first connection in Vancouver. We caught a little later flight and thankfully the gate we arrived into Calgary was next to the one where we made our second connection. We all breathed a sigh of relief, but the relief dissipated when the captain announced there was too much fog to land and that we would have to circle for a little while. We only circled for about 30 minutes and made a bumpy landing where we met up with Jason.

Day #2

Well I got to see pretty much everyone today. It was storming and it was so cold today. I saw some of my old campers, which was really special. I realized today that very shortly I would be in a position of leadership over about 6 girls and some of my old fears came back so I prayed and read in the Bible.

Day #3

Today I discovered how much I enjoy the barge to do my devotions on because it is so relaxing. I began to wonder, after hearing a few testimonies from the other cabin leaders, what is wrong with me because I turned from God without all that many problems. Oh well, I guess the important thing is that I came back.

Day #4

I asked Jason if it would be possible for me to get baptized up there. He said it was cool and that I just needed to phone home and make sure it was okay with my parents. Today a huge group of teens arrived from Alberta to serve as cabin leaders. I am in Cabin #5 with Shari and Shelby. I severely dislike mosquitoes, but sooner or later I will get used to them. It is going to take a lot of strength for this next week, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me so BRING IT!

Day #5

The day I have been dreading came, my birthday. At first I thought that it would be okay because at first no one remembered, but eventually Amanda said it. Jason knew since it was on my application. Jason being Jason announced it to the church and of course the church sang to me. That afternoon the campers arrived and I was a little bummed that I had all older girls (my youngest was 11), but God has something in mind. Speaking of things not going as planned. Shari and Shelby were transferred to different cabins and Giovanna is now the other cabin leader. It is fine because we are the same age and we have similar thoughts on how to make next week run more smoothly. For instance we both agreed to wake up an hour before staff devotions in order to do a smaller devotions and prayer time for each day. On a sadder note of the 6 girls we have one that accepted Christ. This is going to be an interesting week.

Day #6

Today we were assigned prayer partners in staff devotions. Mine is Grace, the speaker for the week. This week I will be partnered with Danika to lead crafts. I just want to say that it figures. Craft this summer is painting small plaques.

Day # 7

Our girls are sweet and definitely need to experience the Love of God in their lives and that is my prayer that they will. We got a bit further with our girls today during cabin devotions. These girls are following the Cree religion, not surprising since they all come from the reservation. It was cold and rainy today.

Day # 8

It was cheesy skit night, our skit was Samson and Delilah and we had it really funny in the cabin, but all of us got nervous on stage and it was not as good as it could have been. Earlier this week I had a strange back ache that really weakened me, God healed that though. I shared my testimony with the girls, but I don’t know how much was received though. I hope it reached at least one girl.

Day #9

One more girl accepted Christ sometime this week (PRAISE GOD!!!!). It’s funny because she was the one giving me the most trouble. However she did accept Christ and she said as much in front of the entire camp at campfire tonight. Yeah that pretty much overshadows anything else today.

Day #10

The campers went home today. I gave the girl who accepted Christ a Girl Study Bible. After they were on their way home today we drove into Prince Albert. OF course having no service for the past week I got all my messages at once. We had dinner and went to wal-mart to shop for the next week. We ran into Glenna there. She comes up and taps me on the shoulder and of course what is going through my head is that I am about to be abducted in some no name town in the middle of Saskatchewan. I turn and see her and pretty much tackle her. I finally was able to call home and ask if it was alright for me to get baptized here and my mom said it was good.

Day #11

Teri from Alberta was added to our cabin. We get a new set of girls tomorrow and it scares me just a little bit not knowing what is to come, but that is when I need to start relying on God more.

Day #12

It was running around camp inflicting many, what is it? I caught the cold (now I have the coordination to catch) However my symptoms are not like many others. This week we have the “white” cabin. What does that mean? It means simply that I have no native children in my cabin. They are not too young nor too old. They have all said that they have accepted Christ. I talked to Jason to tell him that I confirmed it and we decided that Friday would be a good day to do it.

Day #13

An unlucky day? Perhaps it was since my cold took a turn for the worse. Giovanna would not let me out of the cabin except for the restroom. It was just a tad boring being stuck in bed all day, but the everyone was sweet. After being inside all day I got up and went outside to sit on the barge. It made God’s handiwork much more beautiful. Glenna came to visit me. We joked for a bit, but finally she asked me if I thought maybe it was a spiritual attack since I would be baptized at the end of the week. I am not sure, but it is odd that it came on strong the day I confirmed it with Jason. As it turns out I will have to share my testimony when I get baptized.

Day #14

I spent the night in Jason and Anita’s Basement. When I was not asleep I had time to think, and the more I think about it the more an attack seems likely. I slept/dozed until about 1:30 this afternoon. If it is a Spiritual attack I will not beat it by sleeping. I pulled myself out of bed and get out there. I wanted to go back to sleep and although I was kind of tired I made it. After all of this God gave us the Northern Lights. As they first began to appear I asked Glenna if she thought it was the Northern Lights and she just shrugged, but sure enough they appeared. My campers began to ask if it was the angels. Oh so cute they were.

Day #15

Well I did not get a lot of sleep since one of the girls was snoring rather loudly. At about 4:30 I gave up on the thought of getting sleep and went to use the restroom. I saw the most beautiful sunrise. The entire lake was like glass and it was pinkish and gold. I was not able to fall back asleep, but it gave me something to think about. This afternoon during my break I went outside and began reading the Armour of God since that is what staff devotions was focused on. I began to pray and all of a sudden out of nowhere (no storm nor boat in the lake) these waves started coming in. I stopped praying to watch it and the lake went back to glass as quickly as the waves started coming in. This evening was cheesy skit night again and this time we got Noah’s ark and won second place with it. Pretty good considering girls do not normally place.

Day #16

A pretty nice day. It was pretty relaxed and a gorgeous day to go swimming which is what I did.

Day #17

Today was the day my campers went home, as well as the day I got baptized this evening. It was kind of funny, as I was walking out there I nearly tripped in the lake. I leave next week. The fear I felt earlier was a blessing in disguise. It caused me to spend more time in the Word as well as more time praying.

Day #18

This morning I awoke at 4:30 again. This time I went canoing with Giovanna, Teri, and Danika. It was not nearly as beautiful as it was a few days ago, but this time I was actually in the lake as it rose. The Alberta group left today. As it turns out I will remain in Cabin #5 until I leave.

Day #19

I saw an example of “loving your neighbor”. On the way back from church there were two horses in the road. Anita recognized them as one of their neighbor’s horses and even though she was tired, Anita got out and walked them back to their farm. These next few days I will be an LIT (Leader In Training, odd since I was just a Cabin Leader). This week my load will be lighter in the since the work is not as spread out. I just have a bit in concentration.

Day # 20

I think the kind of people Christ chose to be his disciples is interesting. He did not choose the particularly gifted or educated people, he picked the average and in some cases the below average. It turned out that there was some drama that I was not aware of. Not that I mind. It is annoying that it came since it is a Bible camp. Tomorrow is my last full day here.

Day #21

I helped do dishes this morning even though I was not scheduled, it took the entire morning up until about 15 minutes before lunch. Then I was scheduled for lunch dishes so I helped with those. Even though I spent most of the time doing dishes I do not feel like I missed anything. Today as we were driving to Saskatoon Jason was talking about life on the reservation and it turns out that it is a big deal that only one girl accepted Christ, and an even bigger deal that she announced it.

Day # 22

We came home today. All the flights were on time except the last one, but it was delayed only about 3o minutes.

Pray for my campers, please. Especially the one who accepted Christ.

So I allowed my sister to perm my hair 5 days ago. My hair has already gone flat proving the old statement that my hair does not hold curls. It’s ashame though I was hoping that it would be easier to manage while I am in Canada, I guess not. It was a nice idea though.

I had to open my big mouth and suggest that we turn the swamp coolers on. Now the upstairs is really hot as I attempt to pack for Canada in 4 days. Besides that my stupid permed hair is now frizzing beyond belief. The good new is that I only have a couple more things to get and I will be set. HALLELUJAH! However I am still contemplating whether or not I should post another chapter before i leave.

My hair stinks… you know why? It is simply because when my sister and I are alone on a weekday with nothing to do we get these awesome ideas about doing each other’s hair and such. So now I just let my sister give me a perm and now my hair smells like something died.
